I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines.” ~Henry David Thoreau

Welcome to the Texas Tree Project. This site is dedicated to the study and appreciation of native and naturalized Texas trees. It was created to provide adequate resources for anyone to learn how to identify common and more esoteric trees of Texas through descriptions and photographs. The core of this project is the Texas tree field guide. It will be ever growing and will become even more useful as time goes on. Please contact me if you have any suggestions, additions, or photographs of Texas trees. If you want to learn to identify Texas trees, then this site was made for you.
